Singer/Songwriter/Piano Diva, Angelena presents a provocative acoustic voyage through her world with clever, blunt lyrics; great vocals and piano playing. A tongue in cheek Tori Amos dowsed in hydrochloric acid.
Bio / Background
Playing piano since age 5 and singing and writing songs for almost as long, Angelena now performs, teaches and composes from her home in Northern California.
"Jesus Free Zone" is a collection of materials from my early twenties when I was very disillusioned with the world. I was just discovering how hard it was to be an artist in a country that doesn't value art, underemployed in various sweatshops and offices that I hated, and I was on a journey of recovery from the harmful effects of being brought up Baptist towards a very pagan spiritual outlook. I was an angry person to say the least. A big part of how I got through things was sitting down at the piano and banging, screaming, crying, whispering out my problems, my truths. Somewhere in there, I found peace."
"The amazing thing is, I occasionally sit down and listen to the album and am taken aback at the quality of work I was producing then. I'm still proud of it.
