"Un certo non so che" is the debut album of soprano Amelia Scheider, a (rare!) independent classical artist. After studying voice for many years, Amelia decided to devote herself to historical performances of baroque performances, where she specializes in male romantic lead roles written for castrati.
Amelia’s goal as a performer and as an early music scholar is to make baroque opera more accessible to mass audiences through marketing and education. She is also a staunch advocate for bringing the social scene back into opera—meaning that she supports food in the theater, late seating, and a more comfortable social atmosphere.
"Un certo non so che" takes a baby step back from Amelia’s typical stylistic authenticity, adding slightly romanticized piano accompaniment to baroque songs while maintaining stylistically accurate vocal technique and ornamentation styles. This stylistic change generally makes these pieces more appealing for general audiences.
