Allyssa pours her funky-jazzy-pop sound over smart poetry.
Bio / Background
Allyssa Jones has multiple-musicality syndrome. Her debut CD, "Daughter's Dance," reveals traces of her family's eclectic record collection, which included everything from Carole King and James Taylor to The Temptations and Earth, Wind & Fire. Although trained in classical piano and voice, it was her later introduction to jazz that would inspire her core sound and artistic aesthetic. Add to all of this her passion for neo-soul and Prince, and it becomes clear why she insists on blending the styles that speak to her most.
While cutting her teeth in Chicago, Allyssa's jazz dates featured sought-after players such as Steve Million and Neal Alger. In 2000, Bradley Parker Sparrow, an early supporter, invited her to appear in Southport Records' annual "Women of Southport Jazz Festival." As a songwriter, Jones' compelling melodies and poignant lyrics earned her honors in the 2004 Billboard International Songwriting Competition.

Now based in Boston, Allyssa was named one of Boston Magazine's "40 Bostonians to Watch" in 2002. Her belief in the movement to add new material to the Great American Songbook is the driving force behind her band's innovation and energy. Popular at both jazz and original music venues, Allyssa Jones is available for shows and promotional events wherever audiences are craving something new.
