Live performance poetry in English and Yoruba songs on a base of evocative traditional African drumming and soothing acoustic guitar. The poems are a celebration of African culture with a focus on creating understanding amongst peoples of the world.
Bio / Background
Segun Akinlolu is one of Nigeria's pre-eminent performance poets leading a revival of the oral traditions through performance. Combining folksongs, original poems and storytelling, he performs his poetry with an acoustic guitar and African percussion instruments.
'Where Rivers Sing A Song', his second poetry recording, was recorded with a live studio audience and features uplifting words in English interwoven with Yoruba songs, gangan drums, agogos, shekeres, and acoustic guitar.
