Moody electric overtones, melodic bass lines and driving drums intertwine with crisp acoustic guitar or piano in the four-piece, female-fronted ensemble.
Bio / Background
"It really captures the imagination - beautiful. Her layers of vocals are especially great. Her use of her voice as a backup instrument is wonderful. I can't wait until I can say 'I knew her when...' " -- Julie Ann Baker / S3 Records
"Shelly Fraley was the first artist at the Mid-America All-Indian Center's Woodstock tribute to really kick out the jams and get the night on track." -- Jedd Beaudoin / Wichita F5
---------------------
Music is a trigger. There's something about it that moves you... something about it that breathes into you. Something that helps you to let go, or, sometimes to embrace. It can leave you breathless, and elated, and sad, and happy all at the same time. And it can act as an outlet for every emotion one could possibly think to experience.
Adora Rising - the solo project for Shelly Fraley, is not only that outlet for the singer/songwriter, but also for the people who listen to her music.
↓ more ↓"There is something about sitting down at a piano, or picking up a guitar, or belting out a melody completely acapella and creating a landscape of sounds that is far more releasing then anything else I could ever do. What a lovely and amazing process it is to watch emotions become completely vivid in the form of sounds mixed and intertwined with one another."
Although Adora Rising may seem relatively new on the scene, front person Shelly Fraley has been going strong for several years. Drawn to music at an early age, she has pursued music acively since childhood, moving from a more pop-oriented genre into a unique blend of basic rock combined with soothing vocals, moody undertones and subtle folk influences. Complete with hook heavy melodies and catchy lyrics, she is capable of capturing the essence of the musicians whom she loves - Coldplay, Muse, Damien Rice, and Gemma Hayes.
Not only has Fraley co-written and performed over 40 original songs with her previous band (Pseudo), but she has also had her hand in numerous recording and performance projects. From tracking vocals on hip-hop driven grooves to writing pads and melodies for a steel-drum band, to touring with Soutwestern College's choral ensembles, Fraley has found necessity in growing her technique and style through experiencing other people's music and creative ideas.
Now, having decided on the name Adora Rising, Fraley and her band members have recently completed the first Adora Rising single "Tonight." The disc includes tracks "Flood Gates" and "Gravity" and was just released this winter. The full length album will soon follow. See the discography page for more information.
