Abiku is a Baltimore electro-punk duo.
Bio / Background
Bio:
Abiku was formed in 2002 as a four piece with keyboards, guitar, theremin, vocals, and programmed beats. Jane & Josh continued as a two piece after the first demo, to facilitate more shows and more touring. In 2003 the two moved to Baltimore from their native Philadelphia. Since then, they have released 5 CD-R albums and a split 7” record with Myles of Destruction on Worldeater Records. The 7” charted on CMJ and was number one on Philadelphia college radio station WKDU for three weeks.
Abiku’s latest release is Location, a full-length CD on Seattle’s Automation Records. The album was produced by the band, recorded at Red Planet Studio in Philadelphia, and mastered by Alan Douches. Abiku spends as much time as possible on the road. They have toured from Baltimore to the West Coast four times since the summer of 2004 as well as a short tour of Mexico. They currently average about 100 shows a year.
