The Same Shape formed in 2004 out of a weekly open jam held in California's Central Valley. The Same Shape boys record and produce their own records and prefer to record every instrument live to tape. After seeing the band live, you will appreciate this fact as their shows and recordings exude an explosive energy. Their first record was recorded in a day and a half, testament to their opinion that capturing the energy of a song is just as important as capturing a perfect performance.
Many of the takes were not perfect, yet they kept them anyway and this is what you hear on their album: Four guys in a room, making music. The album was released in 2005 by The Same Shape independently. The guys pooled the money they made from their live shows to pay for the album duplication and some post-production and mastering. The band is currently taking a break from touring to record their second album, also being self-released.
