Kah

There are two artists operating under the name of Kah 1) Kah is an electronic female singer songwriter and producer from London, UK who started writing in 2007. She performs, records and produces all of her music entirely by herself. She writes all the lyrics and sings all the vocals. She performs live with her laptop and she likes to read poetical introductions to her songs, often written fresh for each performance. Her music has been described as "somewhere between Goldfrapp and Lykke Li" by Popjustice and as having "a touch of The Knife" by Puregroove Records.

Kah herself describes her work as "Sometimes it's like reading under the covers by torchlight. Like time no longer exists and all that exists is that one little beat I am trying to get right or that one note the violin is playing that doesn't quite sit with the cello. I am a little girl lost in a forest of details. In my songs are my dreams. In my dreams are my songs. I simply could not live without them. I hope that some of them just might connect with some of you."

Kah grew up in that hot-bed of English culture that is Chatham in Kent. She had a pretty intense musical education touring with choirs in Eastern Europe, followed up by a few years singing jazz standards in bars in Scotland, Newcastle and London. Now all her music is written from a corner of my bedroom in a corner of London and then it is mixed and mastered in Brighton.

Her debut single "Fugitive / Back Seat Driver" was released in 2008 on download and on limited edition vinyl with the very independent label Random Acts of Vinyl. It earned the much sought after accolade of Song of the Day on Popjustice.com where it sits sandwiched between The Killers and Ladyhawke . In 2009 Kah was commissioned to contribute a cover of any song from the 80's for Buffetlibre DJs Rewind project. She chose "Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springsteen. It is available as a free download from here, via Kah's website or via the Buffetlibre site itself.

Kah's debut album "More than Dawn" is now completely dressed, pressed and it will be released in May 2010. Kah says that "I've tried to make up an album like a football team of Zidanes who may astonish with grace, smack you upside the head with beats and bass and wrong-foot anyone who thinks they can guess where my music is going next."
